Rune Engine foundation
Analytical animation, immutable snapshots, and render-thread replay keep motion seekable, deterministic, and ready for both preview and export.
Rune Engine is the 2D rendering foundation. Rune Story turns it into a source-controlled workflow for authoring, previewing, presenting, and exporting motion-driven content.
Analytical animation, immutable snapshots, and render-thread replay keep motion seekable, deterministic, and ready for both preview and export.
Story scripts keep animation in source control while combining sprites, text, SVG, charts, media, and cues in one readable workflow.
The same Story can drive live preview, cue-based presentation, captured frames, and rendered video from checked-in samples.
Build motion with reusable sprites, paths, cameras, layers, charts, shaders, narration, and video while keeping one script as source of truth.
Visual proof
The homepage highlights current samples and system guides instead of promising future capabilities. Each panel below maps to checked-in Story material in this repository.

Presentation demo
Checked-in samples cover presentations that preview live, step through cues, and export to reviewable video.

Path motion and trim
Story can animate trim and follower motion together so the visible leading edge and the moving marker stay aligned.

Camera and world
The camera-world sample demonstrates camera moves, world-space content, and screen-space overlays in one Story.

Layer 3D
Layer 3D captures a full subtree as one plane, then projects it with perspective while keeping painter order intact.
Product hierarchy
Rune Project is the umbrella. Rune Engine is the rendering foundation. Rune Story is the scripted authoring and playback product built on top of it.
Author motion as readable YAML, preview it early, and move from checked-in samples to reusable workflows and generated reference.
Build on analytical animation, immutable snapshots, command recording, and compositing contracts that support both interactive preview and export.
Follow one learning path from installation through examples, then switch to generated reference and Specs when you need precise contracts.
Built for motion
Rune Engine resolves analytical motion on the render thread, keeping animation seekable without rebuilding the authored scene on every frame.
Rune Story bakes once and uses the same seek-and-render core for preview, still frames, cue navigation, live presentation, and video export.
The public beta targets Windows x64 and Windows ARM64, uses .NET 10, and centers the Story schema on v1beta1.
